White OP, racist….
Yeah, um, I’m Puerto Rican.
People taking things out of context are my favorite <3
For the love of god will you just get over the whole Naya Johanna thing. The more you bring it up is only gonna give you more haters. BTW you have no F******N right telling people to stop posting “Naya for Johanna Mason” stuff. It’s an opinion so getting over it is your only option.

I found an interesting article the other day concerning Musicians and social media. I found it very intriguing due to the fact that musicians have been using social media to connect with fans, but only for the past few years. Since the invention of Napster, and other platforms for downloading…
I defently agree that the artists should not worry so much about the money, they need to focus more on their music and advertising themselves. There is always going to be people downloading free music and it something as an artists you have to live with. I think it’s great that social media has been able to help so incoming artists.
Since I’ve learned more about geolocation applications in my social media class, I’ve developed a strong interest in them. To put it more frankly, I’ve become a Foursquare addict. I don’t know what it is about ‘checking-in’ to places that is so thrilling, but every time I end up in a particular…
This is really disturbing. I also enjoy using foursquare (or at least I used to) but its stuff like this that makes you want to delete every profile you have on the internet. Why they think it’s ok to use peoples private information (that they force you to provide) and creates apps like this is crazy to me.
The Hunger Games and Social Media
In an article titled “Social media gives ‘Hunger Games” an edge” author John Anderson discusses how social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter played a huge role in the promotion of the record breaking film. Since the books series is is targeted for the younger demographic it was only natural that the film would be the talk of the year. Instead of just making a simple Facebook fan page, the Lionsgate marketing team took it to the next level.
Fan involvement was something the promoters were really hoping for. To gain the support by those who may not have read Suzanne Collins books, they decided to focus on not just drawing people in, but engaging them as well. One of the ways they accomplished this was allowing the audience to enter into the world of ‘Panem’ and become a member in one of their 12 districts. After sighing up and choosing your district you were now eligible to take part in a number of different activities. Members also had access yo many different trailers, clips and photos.
CEO Vince Broady of thismoment is quoted saying “in the past just getting a social media campaign up running took all the resources but the creatively was limited.” Bringing the fandom in and giving them more control are one of the biggest reason why “The Hunger Games” were able to get the success it did. With a total gross of $463.7 million ($152.5 million opening weekend) the franchised as seized the top spot for movie of the year, and with opening nights sales alone is the “3rd most successful opening weekend ever.
With all of movies success, I would not be surprised at all to see more movies take advantage of all the resources social media holds. Facebook alone allows millions to have access to not only get information from Lionsgate, but also information and opinions coming from the fans. Anderson says “The ability to advertise directly on the site is one thing, being able to build a marketing campaign from a user’s perspective is another beast entirely. As a long time Hunger Games fan, I agree that social media played a huge part in the movies outcome. I encourage future movies to take note and follow in the footsteps.

It’s very saddening when you hear about the increasing bullying going on. Online bullying in my opinion is te worst kind. These people are able to send a large amounts of hate from the comforts of their homes. The sick thing about it is that there is no way of stopping it.Over the past year it seems as though bullying has been on the rise both in schools and online. I recently came across an article debating on whether or not social media can stop bullying or simply enhance the issue. In the last couple of months teenagers have been posting videos are Youtube to…

I completely agree with you. People need to be more careful with what they put online, but I do think some businesses take things way to far. In the long run they are actually hurting themselves by discrimination.Lately, social networking and privacy has been a very controversial topic in the media. The big question is, “How far is too far?” “Should businesses and schools have the right to check employee or student’s social networking sites?” etc. Businesses and schools have started to ask for the right to…
